About

Built by an agency that had the problem

Supply Safe is made by Sussex Teachers Limited, an independent primary school supply agency placing teachers and teaching assistants in Sussex schools since 2007.

Who we are

We have been placing supply teachers and teaching assistants in Sussex primary schools since 2007, first as part of PBR Recruitment Services from 2007 to 2013, and as Sussex Teachers Limited since the company was incorporated on 15 July 2013.

Why it exists

We are a small agency. Every September we found ourselves doing the same thing: working out which of our candidates had current safeguarding training, from which provider, covering what, expiring when. The evidence sat in a spreadsheet, an inbox and a folder of PDFs that did not agree with each other.

The courses we could buy were written for school staff, and split into separate courses for safeguarding, Prevent, Part One of KCSiE and allergy, each taking an hour or two. Covering a whole candidate list that way is a project, not a purchase, and they were not written for the agency’s own duties, or for the way supply staff actually work. From July 2026 the DfE also says allergy training should reach supply teachers.

So we wrote one. It is the course we wanted to be able to buy.

What we are careful about

This is a compliance product sold to compliance professionals, which means being right matters more than sounding impressive. Every claim on this website is cited to gov.uk or legislation.gov.uk, with paragraph numbers where they exist.

Several pages on this site exist specifically to correct things that are widely repeated and wrong, including that KCSiE requires annual safeguarding training, that Prevent training must be renewed every year, and that allergy training is already mandatory. None of those are true, and we would rather tell you than have you find out.

Accreditation, described accurately

The course is CPD Certified by The CPD Certification Service, an independent accreditation body established in 1996. That means the learning has been independently assessed against their criteria. It is not approval by the DfE, Ofsted, Ofqual or government, it is not a regulated qualification, and it does not make your agency compliant with anything by itself. No training provider can honestly claim otherwise.

How the course stays current

DfE republishes Keeping Children Safe in Education every September. We read the new edition in August, including its summary of changes, update the course and every page on this site that cites it, and publish the new edition in the first week of September. Anyone part-way through finishes on the version they started.
